bodily reaction you are much more likely to remember the event. Your body saves the happening using the fear to enhance the process.
Fear of psychics is something else entirely. People fear what they don't know. As with any prejudice people have a tendency to want to eradicate what they don't understand instead of seeking to learn from those individuals.
Superstition is based on fear and is attributed to the metaphysical. Looking for curses and other weird myths, people then think they have a reason to act upon those fears by transferring their anger to the object of that fear. Getting rid of the object will stop the fear, they think.
Fear causes abnormal thinking. A lady wrote me not long ago with what I guess to be a superstitious anomaly concerning a crow. The reason she wrote was because this bird had been hanging around her back yard, even trying to get into her screen door. She wanted to know if I could make the crow go away or send her in the right direction to get the crow removed.
Well if I wanted a crow removed, I guess I would call someone who knew birds to do it. However, I am not into removing birds because I love them. Crows are not a favorite bird for me like the songbirds but like the songbirds they are interesting in their behavior.
This lady would not be satisfied with my explanation that the crow probably was raised by someone who looked like her or that the crow had been fed by humans and was thus unafraid. For her that crow meant that there was some sort of dire circumstance associated with it. She could not enjoy the bird for what it was, just a bird. No, she had to ascribe some macabre reason for its visits. She thought the worst of the poor creature and thus, was ignorant to the plight of the crow.
Ignorance is dislocated fear. Once a person is educated, then there is no reason for fear. Illumination cancels darkness.
Lack of knowledge and the unawareness of that fact is a serious enemy to the advancement of intelligence. People who are stuck in their beliefs without question are generally unaware that they may have a considerable lack of knowledge. That's
