Bigotry not only is an expensive lesson but is also a horrible human reaction usually based on a person's thinking he has the likeness of God. In being in His image, he has God's support, no matter how extreme his beliefs. And he is so dogmatic that he expects everyone on Earth to believe as he does.
Hatred of others is often generated from a seemingly spiritual viewpoint. Using religion as a base of spirituality, people give themselves permission to loathe others they consider unlike them.
A prime example is Hitler, who wanted to be a priest and was also interested in metaphysics. He had a strong belief in his ability to predict the future. Using his charisma, he united his countrymen by helping them identify and start hating the Jewish people.
The redeeming quality of that spiritual world's lesson was that the human race said we would never allow such an atrocity to happen again.
Spirituality sometimes manifests itself in horrible events, but it most often comes on a daily basis in more subtle behavior with just the effort of existing.
Some learn from others' mistakes, while others are more determined to learn for themselves. They are unable to learn by watching someone else making hard choices or by hearing their experiences, and they have to learn on their own.
Teen-agers are a good example of this phenomenon. They continuously rebel against their parents because they know their parents are old-fashioned and truly ignorant. As a teen's experience grows, he or she begins to notice that those same parents are growing more intelligent with each passing year.
It's the same with psychic ability. As you grow in using your gift, you learn to become more Godlike. When you learn what God truly is, then you recognize that as a part of God, we are all individuals within a single creation.
Psychic abilities are only a road map to the inner self. When looking at the inner self, you come upon the face of God.
