Developing Psychic Ability

Purpose of Psychic Ability

Different people might have different ideas about the purpose behind psychic ability, but its only real relevance is centered on the person's becoming more spiritual.

All of us come to the Earth for different reasons. Some come to help others and some to help themselves. Each of us is here to learn. Our own selfish motives in becoming more Godlike, whether we realize it or not, keep us returning to Earth. Even the worst of humanity is striving to become better.

Spiritual growth is a matter of choice. Any choice you make is the correct one for the moment in which you are living. There are no wrong decisions. Choices you make enhance your spirituality in allowing you to look at yourself through the paths you choose.

Good experiences stay in our memories. Being rewarded with that extra special feeling- be it sex, winning a jackpot, being competitive and winning, or being Florence Nightingale - we all love that fuzzy feeling of having accomplished what we wanted. Good events happening in life, however, do not make us stretch the boundaries of our spirituality. That only happens when we feel we have made a wrong choice and take a hard look at it.

Even though an experience may have felt wrong at the time it was happening, it was a learning experience. There are no wrong decisions, only lessons learned. A good part of that learning encounter was that you did not want to repeat that event. The occurrence also taught something that might apply in another situation later. Sometimes we need to have difficult experiences, because they teach us more intensely and tend to create stored memories.

One such stored memory happened with our oldest child. At about four years old, my oldest stepson decided he wanted to see if the cigarette lighter in the boat was really hot. It didn't matter that his mother and father had told him it was.

Needing to learn for himself, he stuck the lighter to his cheek. The circular lines healed. This event was not one he would soon forget. He learned two valuable lessons with one experience: First, he learned to be wary of anything hot and to be more careful with the lighter. He also learned that sometimes it's better to listen to those who have already stuck the lighter to their faces.

When you are in the middle of an experience, you feel it more deeply. Foresight might lead to dread of the situation coming, and hindsight allows you to feel better from having lived through it, but when you are in the midst of the situation you are living it completely.

Like my son, the human race as a whole sometimes needs to be terrified in order to recognize what is and is not good for them.

Race riots, as an example, bring out both the best and the worst in human behavior. People hurting others because they are not alike in skin color is a shame. Using the race card to commit crime is, too. Racism is a fire that needs to be fed by all involved in order to survive.
