demanding to be told, shut the children up for good. If the conversation does not alarm the child, then they will usually expound more details of their past life.
Not wanting to upset a parent, children go silent when quizzed because they feel they might have said something wrong. Some will even tell their parents they were only playing. Parents know when a child is making up a story. If the parent is very gentle, they can generally learn more.
Children who have never been told that any thought they express about past lives and ghostly images is wrong do not have as hard a time telling their parents what they remember. Still, even the most enlightened mother may not be prepared for how close the past life relationship really was. Being open-minded is one aspect of spirituality, but seeing it in action is another. This could astound any of us, as it did with a mother of a child who was just beginning to speak well.
Imagine this mother's face when her young child was asked, told everyone that his name was Barnes. That was actually his maternal grandmother's last name. In some cases that is all right but in this case he had never met his grandmother because she died years before he was born and his mother had never mentioned her name to him.
This lady and her mother had similar circumstances in life in that both were middle-aged mothers of first children. My friend, who thought she could not have children, found herself pregnant at forty just as her mother had.
Co-dependence was part of her mother's nature and she doted on my friend because her child was all that mattered in her life. My friend, after reaching adulthood and before having a baby herself, rebelled at the relationship. She vowed never to do that to her child if indeed she had one.
Since it was a codependent situation, both saw matters from their own eyes. Without benefit of walking in the other person's shoes, it is easy to speak against that person. With Karma, though, you get to test all the situations of which you speak. My friend is part of a very special Karmic lesson in this lifetime.
